22-year-old calls out 35-year-old boyfriend after condescending comments about her apartment: 'He was being so out of touch!'

Sharing your living space with a significant other for the first time can be a vulnerable experience. What if they judge your decor or the state of your kitchen? What if, despite cleaning for hours, they still take issue with the accumulation of dust in your apartment? 

All of these worries are valid concerns you may have before inviting your newest significant other over for the evening. Unfortunately for this 22-year-old, her new boyfriend was not exactly understanding of the fact that she was a young city person figuring things out in the early days of adulting.   • This age gap between this 22-year-old woman and her 35-year-old boyfriend became most apparent after he complained about the state of her apartment and living conditions. She ended up resenting the ways in which he acted special for getting to date someone in her 20s without taking into account the realities of what it means to actually a date someone in their early 20s. You can't just like someone for their looks and for their youthfulness; you have to like the whole package!

    So... When my boyfriend started coming over more often, he had complaints about the neighbors. Which put me in an awkward place, he wanted to go speak to them or have me text them and I said no.

    For example, one of the early times he stayed over we went to bed around 10. He wanted me to ask my neighbor to turn down her TV. I said she didn't have it that loud and she turns it off at midnight anyway.

    At 4 am, he got very irritated with my upstairs neighbor getting up and cooking breakfast. I said that he would be done by 5 because that's when his shift starts.

    At 7 am, he was still trying to sleep in and the neighbor on the other side had some work calls that he said he couldn't sleep through. I offered him earplugs and he said he couldn't sleep with them in either, he wanted me to ask her to quiet down.

    I am using boomer as A JOKE or a figure of speech to say "acting out of touch and entitled to tell other people what to do". It is a common figure of speech to say "ok boomer" to someone who is acting entitled regardless of their actual age... It's more of a mindset thing.
